FCC Class A

Warning: This equipment generates, uses, and can radiate radio frequency energy and, if not installed and used in accordance with the instruction manual, may cause interference to radio communications. It has been tested and found to comply with the limits for a Class A computing device pursuant to Subpart B of Part 15 of FCC Rules, which are designed to provide reasonable protection against such interference when operated in a commercial environment. Operation of this equipment in a residential area is likely to cause interference, in which case the user, at his own expense, will be required to take whatever measures are required to correct the interference.
You may use twisted-pair for RJ-45 connections.

Warnings

  1. Wear an anti-static wrist strap or take other suitable measures to prevent electrostatic discharge whenever handling this equipment.
  2. When connecting to a power outlet, connect the field ground lead on the triple power plug to a valid earth ground line to prevent electrical hazards.

CE Mark Warning

In a domestic environment, this product may cause radio interference, in which case the user may be required to take adequate measures.

RJ-45 Ports

There are up to 5/8 RJ-45 station ports, each providing a 10Mbps Ethernet channel. To connect to a workstation or server, attach straight-through shielded/ unshielded twisted-pair cabling to any station port. The 5/8/9-port hubs also provide a RJ-45 connector for Uplinkwhich is converted from port 1.

BNC Port

There is one BNC port (9 port hub only) for 10Base-2 system.

Power Adapter Socket

The power adapter plugs into this socket. The power adapter socket accepts DC power equal to 5-7.5V 700-1000mA.

Hardware Installation

  1. Select an appropriate location.
  2. Connect your workstation to any available RJ-45 port on the hub using twisted-pair cable. All end-node devices must be within 100 meters of the connected hub. Using the hub in a stand-alone configuration, you can network up to 5/8/9 workstations.

Daisy-Chain Configuration

Connect this hub to another hub in a daisy-chain configuration,

if it is necessary. When cascading the 5/8/9-port hub to another hub that has an Uplink port, run straight-through twisted-pair cable from any station port on the 5/8/9-port hub to the Uplink port on the other hub. If you must connect to another hub via station ports at both ends of the cable, use crossover cable.

To limit the number of hubs in a path (when daisy-chaining more than two hubs), link several hubs to one central hub. And make sure there is only one path between any two stations on the network.

Troubleshooting

Symptom: Link indicator remains unlit.

Causes: Workstations network adapter, cable or hub port is defective.

Solution: The most common cause is a defective network adapter or cable connection. Check the corresponding cable connections, or the workstations network adapter for possible defects. Verify that the correct cable type is being used. (Note that crossover cable is only required if you cascade hubs via RJ-45 station ports; i.e., an Uplink port is not used.) Replace the defective cable or adapter.
